What counts as a DAC output?
One DAC output is one licensed laser output from Loop Alchemy. On the subscription, each output you run needs its own $10 per month. The outright licence has no output limit at all — run as many as your hardware can drive.
So the outright licence really has no output limit?
Correct. $750 buys the whole application with unlimited DAC outputs, bounded only by what your machine and interfaces can physically support. Nothing is metered and nothing needs topping up.
Which licence makes sense for me?
If you run one or two outputs and want to start small, the subscription is the cheaper way in. If you run several outputs — or you expect to — the outright licence pays for itself quickly and then costs nothing more, ever.
Do I need a Show Alchemy licence if I have Loop Alchemy?
No. Any Loop Alchemy licence also runs Show Alchemy, on the same outputs: the outright licence on unlimited outputs, a subscription on the outputs it covers. Running both on one computer uses one seat.
Can I upgrade from Show Alchemy to Loop Alchemy?
Yes. The $250 you paid for Show Alchemy counts toward Loop Alchemy outright, so the upgrade is the $500 difference.
Can I run without an internet connection?
Yes. From your account you can make a licence file for one computer, or for one of your DACs so the licence goes wherever that DAC goes. Neither needs to check in.
Are updates really free for life?
Yes. Updates are free for life on both licences. There is no maintenance plan and no upgrade fee for new versions.
Can I move a licence to another machine?
Yes. Use the Recover License page to release and re-activate your licence, or contact us and we will sort it out.
Can I switch from subscription to outright later?
Get in touch and we will work it out with you — we would rather you were on the licence that fits how you actually work.
